Clicks unveils 'The Communicator': a blackberry-esque phone for your phone at CES 2026

At CES 2026, Clicks Technology, a startup led by seasoned professionals from the mobile industry, has made waves by unveiling an exciting addition to its hardware lineup. Moving beyond its well-known keyboard cases, the company introduced a new standalone smartphone, the Clicks Communicator, alongside a unique accessory known as the Power Keyboard. The Clicks Communicator is designed as a 'companion device,' prioritizing communication over media consumption. This compact smartphone boasts a permanent tactile QWERTY keyboard and a vibrant 4.03-inch AMOLED display. Operating on a streamlined version of Android 16, it aims to minimize digital distractions, focusing on essential messaging and productivity applications rather than an endless scroll of social media feeds. Despite its emphasis on simplicity, the device does not compromise on modern specifications. It comes equipped with 256GB of internal storage, which can be expanded via microSD card to a remarkable 2TB. Users will also appreciate the inclusion of a 3.5mm headphone jack and dual SIM support through nano-SIM and eSIM options, features often missing in contemporary flagship devices. For enhanced security, a fingerprint sensor is cleverly integrated into the spacebar of the keyboard. A standout characteristic of the Communicator is its customisable 'Signal LED,' located in the 'Prompt Key' on the side. This feature allows users to assign specific colors to notifications from different apps or contacts, facilitating efficient priority management at a glance. Clicks emphasizes that, although the Communicator is intended as a secondary device, it can also serve as a primary phone for users who prefer its unique functionality. In addition to the Communicator, Clicks showcased the Power Keyboard, designed for those who wish to enhance their existing smartphones. This accessory, priced at $79, magnetically attaches via MagSafe or Qi2, featuring a slide-out QWERTY keyboard and a built-in 2,150 mAh battery that can recharge the host phone while in use. It connects via Bluetooth, making it compatible with both iOS and Android devices, as well as tablets and smart TVs, offering a more convenient typing experience. For those interested in the Clicks Communicator, reservations are currently open at an introductory price of $399, set to rise to $499 after February 27. The Power Keyboard is expected to be available for purchase this spring, retailing at a standard price of $109.
