Anthropic’s Claude hit by fresh outage, fifth disruption in March

On March 27, Anthropic's AI chatbot Claude experienced yet another service disruption, marking the fifth outage reported this month alone. As of 2:49 PM, nearly 120 users had raised concerns about access and performance on Downdetector, signaling a significant new wave of issues affecting the platform. This latest interruption follows similar outages reported on March 25 and March 17, prompting Anthropic to confirm the problem and announce that it is actively investigating the underlying cause. The disruption appears to be extensive, impacting various elements of their AI services, including Claude Chat, developer tools like Claude Code, and the digital assistant Claude Cowork, along with the advanced model Claude Opus 4.6. User feedback indicates that approximately 42% of individuals are experiencing challenges with Claude Chat, while 27% have reported issues with Claude Code. Additionally, around 22% of users are struggling to access both the website and mobile application. These repeated outages occur at a crucial time, as reports suggest Anthropic is contemplating a potential initial public offering that could raise up to $60 billion, with discussions of a listing possibly starting as early as October 2026.
