Chevrolet is continuing its modern legacy with the Corvette by introducing a new variant: the Grand Sport X. This model serves as a refined blend of performance and accessibility, merging the high-performance elements of its top-tier counterparts with the more approachable engine found in the Stingray. As the eighth generation of the mid-engine Corvette nears its conclusion, excitement builds around the Grand Sport X. Unlike its predecessors, this iteration boasts an entirely reengineered V8 engine, delivering significantly enhanced power and torque compared to the current Stingray base model. In a notable shift, the Grand Sport X can also be equipped with the 'ZR1X' electric motor and battery system. This places it in a unique position as the successor to the E-Ray, Chevrolet's first all-wheel-drive hybrid Corvette, which has now been discontinued. The innovative Grand Sport X retains the hybrid's all-weather capabilities by incorporating a 186-horsepower (139 kW) electric motor on the front axle alongside a new powerhouse V8 in the rear. The heart of this beast is the LS6 engine, which offers an impressive 535 horsepower (399 kW) and 520 lb-ft (705 Nm) of torque from its 6.7 L capacity. This represents a remarkable increase of 40 hp (30 kW) and 50 lb-ft (68 Nm) over the LT2 engine in the current Stingray models, earning it the title of the most torque-rich naturally aspirated production V8 available today.
