Chemistry Ventures, a venture capital firm established just two years ago by veterans from Bessemer, Index Ventures, and Andreessen Horowitz, is on the verge of raising $500 million for its second investment fund, as revealed in a recent SEC filing. Founded by industry experts Mark Goldberg, Ethan Kurzweil, and Kristina Shen, Chemistry Ventures made its debut with a $350 million fund focused on early-stage startups in sectors like developer tools, fintech, and infrastructure. The firm has already backed several promising companies, including Granola, Decagon, Persona, Serval, and Nova Intelligence. Goldberg's background includes significant experience at Index Ventures, while Kurzweil has a history with Bessemer, and Shen previously worked with a16z. This trio aimed to leverage their extensive expertise from large venture capital firms to foster innovation in the startup landscape. According to reports from The Wall Street Journal, the new fund has already attracted more interest than anticipated, indicating a strong demand, and is projected to close its fundraising phase shortly. Chemistry Ventures did not respond to requests for further comments at this time.
