A delightful new creation has emerged on the Lego Ideas platform, capturing the essence of Apple's nostalgic Bondi Blue G3 iMac. Although user-submitted designs often face hurdles, such as the need for 10,000 supporters and licensing negotiations, this particular model has already garnered significant attention. Created by a user named terauma, this Lego set features over 700 pieces, including a keyboard and a hockey-puck mouse, along with a classic Mac OS boot screen. The transparent blue casing reveals intricate details like cathode ray tubes and circuit boards, reminiscent of the original iMac design. Notably, this design has already attracted more than 5,000 supporters, with 320 days remaining to reach the necessary threshold for consideration by Lego. The G3 iMac, known for its vibrant aesthetics and innovative design led by Jony Ive, marked a pivotal moment in Apple's history. It was the first new Mac introduced after Steve Jobs returned to the company in the late 1990s, setting the stage for future hits like the iPod and iPhone. Despite some features missing compared to contemporary PCs, its unique design and user-friendly setup distinguished it from the typical beige desktop computers of its time. Today's colorful Apple Silicon iMacs continue to draw inspiration from this iconic model.
