In a bold move to integrate social media dynamics into AI interaction, Character.AI has announced the introduction of a social feed within its mobile applications. This exciting development, revealed on Monday, allows users to not only create AI characters but also engage with them in a more communal environment. Initially launched on the web platform in June, the social feed enables users to share images, videos, and their custom chatbots with a wider audience. This feature enhances user engagement by allowing individuals to post snippets of conversations with their AI characters, showcase AI-generated visuals inspired by those interactions, and even facilitate live discussions between characters on various topics. Moreover, the platform incorporates the company’s innovative generative video model, AvtarFX, which allows users to produce video clips by inputting text prompts and images, further enriching the content shared on the feed. "With our new Feed, the boundary between creator and consumer is disappearing. You can come to Feed for a lean-back experience and watch content from our amazing creators – but you can also take the story forward or create a new epic adventure," stated Karandeep Singh, CEO of Character.AI. Character.AI is not alone in this venture; it joins the ranks of other AI-focused companies venturing into social media. For instance, video generation app Pika recently launched an invite-only platform that empowers users to create and publish videos utilizing various AI tools.
