Cerebras raises $5.5B, kicking off 2026’s IPO season with a bang

Cerebras has made a remarkable entrance into the IPO market, raising $5.5 billion by pricing its shares at $185 on Wednesday evening. This figure significantly exceeded its initial price range of $115 to $125, which was later adjusted to between $150 and $160. The company also expanded the offering to 30 million shares, indicating strong demand from retail investors eager to acquire a piece of the action. As it embarks on its first day of trading, Cerebras boasts an impressive fully-diluted valuation of $56.4 billion. Co-founder and CEO Andrew Feldman’s ownership stake is now valued at close to $1.9 billion, while co-founder and CTO Sean Lie holds a stake worth around $1 billion. Just a year ago, the prospect of this IPO seemed uncertain for Cerebras. The company, known for designing its monumental chip specifically for AI applications, initially aimed to go public in 2024. However, the process was delayed due to concerns surrounding a substantial investment from Abu Dhabi's Group 42, which led to extensive scrutiny from the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS). Additionally, investors were wary as Group 42 represented nearly all of Cerebras’s revenue. The tide began to turn in April when Cerebras reported an impressive revenue increase to $510 million for 2025, reflecting a staggering 76% growth year-over-year. This was coupled with a significant shift to profitability, achieving a net income of $237.8 million, compared to a loss of nearly half a billion the previous year. This turnaround has rekindled investor interest. Cerebras is positioning itself as a formidable player in the AI chip market, particularly in supplying chips for inference—the ongoing computational processing needed for AI models to generate responses. Among its notable customers are OpenAI, Group 42, Saudi Arabia's Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence, and Amazon Web Services. Updates on trading activities will follow as the market opens.
