Road to Battlefield: Central Eurasia’s Gateway to TechCrunch Startup Battlefield

A new competition is set to elevate Central Eurasia's startup landscape by providing a direct link to the prestigious TechCrunch Startup Battlefield. Known as "Road to Battlefield," this historic initiative is designed to showcase the region's burgeoning entrepreneurial ecosystem on a global stage. Organized by Silkroad Innovation Hub in collaboration with TechCrunch and Freedom Holding, this competition will span nine countries: Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Türkiye, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. National contests will culminate in a regional final, where the top three startups will secure their spots at the TechCrunch Startup Battlefield 2025 in San Francisco. "We've been featuring startups at TechCrunch Disrupt for years, and their potential is clear," stated Asset Abdualiyev, CEO and Founder of Silkroad Innovation Hub. "Our partnership with TechCrunch Disrupt is evolving, and we're excited to offer promising startups from Central Eurasia a direct route to global recognition." The startup ecosystem in Central Eurasia is gaining traction, representing a dynamic hub of 100 million people, characterized by a youthful demographic and a robust influx of talent. With around 200,000 STEM graduates emerging each year and an estimated 7,000 active startups in various sectors, including AI, Fintech, and E-commerce, the region is poised for growth. Recent data reveals a significant increase in venture funding, which has surged 5.5 times, reaching $110 million in 2023 and $150 million in the first half of 2024. Among the notable success stories is AI company Higgsfield, valued at over $100 million, and Uzum from Uzbekistan, which raised $114 million, positioning itself as the country’s first unicorn with a valuation of $1.16 billion. Additionally, global firms like Telegram and inDrive are establishing a presence in Kazakhstan, further signaling the region's potential. Despite these advancements, Central Eurasia's potential remains largely unexplored by international investors. The Road to Battlefield aims to change this perspective by enhancing visibility and access to influential networks in Silicon Valley. Support for this initiative is strong, with regional leaders like Magzhan Madiyev, CEO of Astana Hub, emphasizing the competition's significance for local startups. "We’re helping startups scale in the U.S. through our acceleration programs, and this competition provides an even larger platform for exposure," he noted. The competition boasts a network of partnerships with several regional innovation hubs and accelerators, including Astana Hub (Kazakhstan), IT Park Uzbekistan, Future Laboratory (Georgia), and others. Abdulakhad Kuchkarov, CEO of IT Park Uzbekistan, highlighted the initiative's role in fostering ecosystem development and promoting Uzbek startups on a global scale. With backing from Freedom Holding, the initiative signifies a strong commitment from the private sector to advance regional innovation. Marlen Sikhayev, Adviser to the President of Freedom Finance Global PLC, stated, "We aim to support regional entrepreneurs by providing access to mentorship and investment opportunities, showcasing that Central Eurasia is evolving in line with global trends." The competition unfolds in several stages, starting with national contests from July 21 to August 10, followed by a regional final on August 15. The three winners will receive extensive preparation before heading to TechCrunch Startup Battlefield from October 26 to 29. This opportunity not only provides invaluable exposure but also the chance to compete for $100,000 in funding and the iconic Disrupt Cup. The launch of Road to Battlefield marks a pivotal moment for Central Eurasia, offering entrepreneurs a unique opportunity to present their innovations to some of the most influential investors and partners in Silicon Valley. As applications open, this could be the catalyst that positions Central Eurasia as a recognized center of global innovation. Interested startups can apply at https://road2battlefield.com/ until July 15, 2025.
