For Indian football enthusiasts eager to experience the excitement of the FIFA World Cup 2026, a Zee5 subscription is essential. With the tournament set to kick off on June 11, Zee Entertainment has recently announced that it has acquired the broadcasting rights for India, concluding a period of uncertainty about the tournament's coverage. Zee5 is offering a special subscription package tailored for the World Cup, dubbed the FIFA WC'26 + All Access plan. This package not only provides access to the World Cup matches but also includes Zee5’s extensive library of content. It’s important to note that while live TV streaming will feature advertisements, viewers will enjoy 4K streaming capabilities on compatible devices. For those who prefer watching on traditional television, Zee Entertainment has introduced new sports channels dedicated to broadcasting the World Cup matches. Fans can also stream the matches on Zee5 using a variety of devices, including smartphones, laptops, tablets, and smart TVs. Until recently, India was one of the last major football markets without a confirmed broadcasting partner for the World Cup, especially as other countries, like China, had already finalized their deals. The announcement from Zee Entertainment has finally put an end to this uncertainty. The 2026 FIFA World Cup is particularly significant as it marks the tournament’s return to North America for the first time since 1994. Jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, this edition will also see an unprecedented expansion, featuring 48 teams competing, compared to the previous 32. Kick-off times for Indian viewers will vary due to the multiple time zones in North America. Notably, the opening match, along with both semi-finals and the final, will begin at 12:30 am IST, promising late-night excitement for fans across the country.
