Cashify, the Indian re-commerce platform, has unveiled its Year-End Snapshot for 2025, showcasing a remarkable 40% growth in its refurbished direct-to-consumer (D2C) segment compared to the previous year. This surge is complemented by a 16% increase in device trade-ins, highlighting the evolving market for second-hand electronics in India. The festive season emerged as a crucial factor in driving sales, with consumer behavior reflecting a pattern of timing purchases rather than an increase in overall volume. During peak shopping days, daily order volumes soared, nearly doubling those seen on regular days. Notably, the festive months contributed to 35% of the entire year’s device trade-ins, while buybacks skyrocketed by an astonishing 129.42% compared to non-festive periods. Consumer preferences are shifting, as over 69% of festive demand was directed towards mid to mid-premium smartphones priced between ₹15,000 and ₹50,000. This trend indicates that buyers are increasingly valuing performance over merely seeking the lowest price. Looking ahead to 2026, Cashify is setting ambitious sustainability goals, aiming to divert 24 lakh (2.4 million) devices from landfills. To support these initiatives, the platform plans to expand its physical presence, targeting over 300 retail outlets. While smartphones remain the cornerstone of its business, Cashify is also venturing into new product categories such as tablets, gaming consoles, smart wearables, and enterprise devices. A recent partnership to become a certified reseller of Amazon devices will further enhance its product offerings. The company anticipates a robust growth rate of 30–35% across all business segments in the upcoming year. According to Nakul Kumar, Co-Founder of Cashify, there is a noticeable shift among Indian consumers towards a more mature and continuous upgrade cycle. This trend is not confined to urban centers but is increasingly being recognized nationwide, thanks to the accessibility of doorstep pick-up services and retail locations. Established in 2013, Cashify has become a trusted trade-in partner for major brands like Apple, Samsung, and OnePlus, boasting a monthly active user base of 10 million.
