Canon has enhanced its EOS R mirrorless lineup with the introduction of the full-frame EOS R6 Mark III camera and the RF45mm F1.2 STM lens. Designed for professional filmmakers and photographers across various genres, the EOS R6 Mark III succeeds the previous model, the EOS R6 Mark II, which debuted in 2023. This latest camera sets a new standard in its category, sporting an impressive 32.5-megapixel resolution that significantly improves detail capture. With enhanced speed, performance, and reliability, the EOS R6 Mark III also boasts advanced video capabilities that cater to professional workflows. Notably, it supports 7K 60p internal RAW and Open Gate video recording. The high resolution of 32.5 megapixels allows for finer detail and greater cropping flexibility, making it easier to capture distant subjects. In high-speed continuous shooting mode, users can take approximately 150 shots at a velocity of up to 40 frames per second (fps) using the electronic shutter. The camera maintains this rapid shooting rate despite the increased processing demands, offering 12 fps when using the mechanical/electronic first-curtain shutter. To enhance the shooting experience, the EOS R6 Mark III features a pre-continuous shooting function, capturing up to 20 images before the shutter button is fully pressed, in any still recording format including RAW. It also inherits the Register People Priority function from the flagship EOS R1, allowing for prioritized detection and tracking of pre-registered individuals in group shots. In terms of video capabilities, the EOS R6 Mark III represents a significant advancement. It supports internal RAW video recording up to 7K 60p on a CF-express Type B card and introduces 3:2 Open Gate recording for added versatility in post-production. This feature is particularly beneficial for content creators who need to reframe footage for both horizontal and vertical formats. The camera also expands its recording options by including Canon Log 2 and HLG gamma capabilities, alongside the existing Canon Log 3 and HDR PQ formats. Enhanced features such as support for the Cinema EOS range’s Custom Picture profiles, including custom LUTs, allow users to tailor settings for gamma, color sampling, and bit depth. Additionally, 14 Colour Filters are available for instant color grading effects, and there are monitoring tools like waveform displays and false colors to ensure accurate exposure. Maintaining the rugged design of its predecessor, the EOS R6 Mark III also offers improved button customization. Meanwhile, the RF45mm F1.2 STM lens stands out as Canon's widest aperture non-professional lens. Marketed as a 'Powerful and Cost-Efficient' option, this compact and lightweight lens is ideal for users seeking beautiful bokeh effects and enhanced low light performance. Weighing approximately 346 grams, this lens is the smallest f/1.2 option in both the EF and RF ranges. When paired with the EOS R6 Mark III, its f/1.2 maximum aperture facilitates optimal light entry, maximizing the potential of the camera's Dual Pixel CMOS AF II system, especially in low light conditions. Pricing details for the EOS R6 Mark III and RF45mm F1.2 STM will be provided, inclusive of all applicable taxes, to assist customers in their purchasing decisions.
