In a bold move to reclaim its former glory, the celebrity greeting platform Cameo has unveiled a partnership with TikTok that enables U.S. creators to deliver personalized video messages directly to their followers through the popular short-form video app. This collaboration is designed to enhance creators' earnings while providing fans with a seamless way to request personalized Cameo videos alongside the content they already enjoy. Creators can now register to send customized messages within TikTok, simplifying the process and broadening their reach. For those already on Cameo, this integration presents an opportunity to connect with a larger audience, leveraging TikTok's vibrant community of creators and their expanding fan bases. Cameo's strategy is timely, aiming to tap into TikTok's rapid growth, particularly among its creator segment. Prominent TikTok stars such as Ash Trevino, Alex Dougherty, and SmoothPapi are currently leading the way on Cameo's platform. CEO Steven Galanis remarked that “Cameo videos frequently go viral on TikTok” and highlighted that TikTok creators had their most successful year yet on Cameo in 2025. Previously valued at $1 billion during the peak of the pandemic, Cameo has faced challenges, including a staggering 90% drop in valuation in 2024 and difficulties meeting financial obligations, such as a substantial $600,000 fine from the Federal Trade Commission. Last year, the company attempted to regain momentum by launching a birthday planning app called Candl. This partnership illustrates a broader trend in the media industry, where brands are increasingly recognizing the power of influencers to enhance their services. Streaming platforms like Tubi and Peacock have also begun collaborating with popular creators to develop original content. TikTok, already equipped with features that promote engagement, such as tipping, virtual gifts, and subscription options, is set to further enrich the experience with the new Cameo integration, which coincides with recent updates about fresh ad formats and an interactive emoji game in direct messages.
