Bungie’s delayedMarathonrevival will finally launch March 5

Bungie, the renowned developer behind Destiny, has officially announced the release date for its long-awaited revival of the Marathon franchise. Following nearly three years since the initial announcement and a delay from its original release date of September 23, 2025, the game is now slated to launch on March 5 for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X|S. The announcement came via a post on the PlayStation Blog, providing fans with a clearer timeline after the game faced setbacks due to unsatisfactory feedback from its first Alpha test. Unlike its predecessor, Destiny 2, which adopted a free-to-play model in 2019, the new Marathon will be available for purchase at $40 for the Standard Edition or $60 for the Deluxe Edition, which includes exclusive digital rewards and cosmetics. This new installment diverges from the classic Marathon trilogy of the 90s, which focused on single-player campaigns and deathmatch multiplayer. Instead, the upcoming Marathon is characterized as a “PvPvE survival extraction shooter.” Players can expect to explore various zones and gather cosmetic items and gear upgrades either solo or with two friends. The gameplay promises to blend exploration with thrilling PvP combat, creating dynamic and fast-paced encounters as missions unfold.
