In a surprising turn of events, the online mod for Rockstar's beloved 2006 title, Bully, has been taken down only a month after its release. The project, known as "Bully Online," offered players the chance to engage in various multiplayer activities including mini-games, role-playing, and racing with friends. The mod was initiated by Swegta, a YouTuber with a focus on Rockstar content, who had announced the creation of this multiplayer experience back in October. He expressed excitement about the long-awaited project, which was initially set to launch in December for supporters who contributed to a Ko-Fi account. However, as the release date approached, it shifted to a free, open-source format, allowing anyone to access it. Now, the mod's source code and all related download links have been removed from Swegta's website. In a message shared on their now-inactive Discord server, the development team expressed their disappointment, stating, "This was not something we wanted." They also confirmed that further development on any Bully Online scripts would cease, and user account data would be deleted, marking a sudden end to what many hoped would be an enduring community project.
