Broadcom is gearing up to unveil its fiscal first-quarter earnings following the market's closure on Wednesday. Analysts surveyed by LSEG are expressing optimism, forecasting an impressive revenue growth of nearly 29% compared to the previous year. The company has witnessed a surge in demand for artificial intelligence infrastructure, boasting a remarkable 65% increase in AI revenue projected for the 2025 fiscal year. Broadcom plays a crucial role in the development of Google's Tensor Processing Units (TPUs), underscoring its significance in the AI landscape. CEO Hock Tan has set ambitious expectations, predicting that fiscal first-quarter AI revenue could reach $8.2 billion. However, 2026 has not been kind to Broadcom's stock, which has seen a 9% decline, lagging behind the S&P 500 index, which has remained steady during the same timeframe. Analysts from Evercore suggest that investor apprehensions regarding a potential peak in capital expenditures for AI equipment in 2026 may be impacting stock performance, yet they maintain a buy recommendation for Broadcom. The software sector has also faced scrutiny as investors weigh the competitive threats posed by generative AI models. In 2023, Broadcom expanded its portfolio by acquiring VMware, a leader in server virtualization software. Analysts are anticipating $12.25 billion in revenue from semiconductor solutions and $7.02 billion from infrastructure software in the upcoming quarter. Additionally, Broadcom recently announced new Wi-Fi 8 chips, further enhancing its product offerings. For the fiscal second quarter, expectations are set at $2.17 in adjusted earnings per share, with total revenue projected at $20.56 billion. Company executives are slated to discuss these results during a conference call starting at 5 p.m. ET.
