Brahma AI, a leading enterprise generative AI platform backed by Prime Focus, has successfully raised $150 million (around ₹1,437 crore) in a funding round spearheaded by Multiples Alternate Asset Management. This investment has propelled the company's valuation to $2 billion on a post-money basis. In this equity financing round, Multiples committed $100 million (approximately ₹958.2 crore) through preferred shares, while Brahma AI has reported an additional $100 million in investor interest, which could potentially lead to an expanded funding round, as indicated in Prime Focus's stock exchange filing dated September 23. Following this transaction, Prime Focus will maintain about 66% economic ownership in Brahma AI through its UK-based visual effects subsidiary, DNEG. However, its voting rights will be reduced to 24.99%, which means Brahma AI will no longer be consolidated as a subsidiary. Prabhu Narasimhan, the Founder and CEO of Brahma AI, expressed that the newly acquired capital will be primarily directed towards research and development. The focus will be on enhancing interactive digital human technologies and expanding the company's overall AI capabilities. Additionally, Brahma AI intends to utilize these funds to scale its go-to-market efforts, particularly in the United States, and to expedite product development in response to increasing enterprise demand for secure and branded AI-generated content. Brahma AI operates as an AI-native platform designed for enterprise audiovisual content, merging Hollywood-level content technology with generative AI. This enables large organizations to efficiently create, manage, and distribute video, audio, and immersive experiences at scale. Among its innovative products are ATMAN, a photorealistic digital human engine, and VAANI, a sophisticated multilingual voice and lip-sync localization tool. The platform caters to prominent global clients, including Warner Bros., the NBA, and Mayo Clinic, across various sectors such as media, entertainment, sports, healthcare, and advertising. Notably, Brahma AI evolved from Prime Focus's CLEAR AI media asset management system and has earned a Technology & Engineering Emmy Award for its advancements in AI-driven media technology. In the realm of localization, Brahma AI is utilized as a high-end engine for adapting the epic Ramayana into multiple languages. Its VAANI technology enables actors' mouth movements to be animated to align with translated dialogues, preserving the original performance quality. This AI-powered post-dubbing system, a recent recipient of a Technology & Engineering Emmy, is vital for the film's plan to be released in nearly 50 languages with seamless synchronization, ensuring a movie-quality experience for global viewers. For Prime Focus, this funding round effectively distinguishes the high-growth AI platform from its traditional visual effects and animation business while allowing the group to retain a significant economic interest in potential future listings or fundraising efforts.
