The Boring Company, founded by Elon Musk, has halted its operations on the tunnel project intended to connect to the Las Vegas airport after a serious incident involving a worker who suffered a 'crushing injury' late Wednesday night. This development has prompted an investigation by Nevada's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Emergency responders from the Clark County Fire Department were dispatched to the scene shortly after 10:12 p.m. local time, deploying an 18-member rescue team to assist. While details surrounding the incident remain vague, it has been confirmed that the injured worker was removed from the site using a crane operated by the fire department. Fortunately, reports indicate that the worker is currently in stable condition. The Boring Company has been engaged in constructing a network of tunnels that link the Las Vegas Convention Center to several nearby hotels and casinos. To date, the underground transit system has successfully completed over 3 million rides across its 3.5 miles of operational tunnels. The company harbors ambitious plans to expand this network to encompass a broader swath of Las Vegas, including the airport. However, the project has faced scrutiny due to numerous worker injuries reported during the construction phase. Concerns about safety at the site have even been raised by the company's former safety manager, highlighting the ongoing risks associated with such large-scale underground projects.
