In a recent job listing, Blue Origin has signaled its ambitious plans for the New Glenn rocket by seeking a senior manager to supervise the fabrication of its new propellant tank, dubbed “Quattro.” The role promises significant responsibilities, requiring the manager to lead a dedicated team of specialists, technicians, and engineers in producing this critical component. Quattro represents an upgraded upper stage for the New Glenn rocket, which will now be powered by four BE-3U engines, a substantial increase from the two engines currently being used. This upgrade was first unveiled last November, showcasing a new configuration termed 9×4, featuring nine engines on the first stage and four on the upper stage. With aspirations to launch this larger variant next year, Blue Origin aims to meet its ambitious lunar exploration goals under NASA's Artemis program. The job description reveals the company’s commitment to scaling up production significantly. Blue Origin is targeting an increase in production rates from 12 to 60 units per year by the third quarter of 2028. By 2029, the goal is to achieve an output of 100 second stages annually. A spokesperson for the company confirmed the accuracy of these production targets, underscoring the bold vision behind the New Glenn vehicle, which has already completed three launches since its inaugural flight in January 2025.
