In a recent town hall meeting with the Gates Foundation's employees, Bill Gates addressed his past association with Jeffrey Epstein, following the release of emails that shed light on their relationship. According to a spokesperson from the nonprofit, Gates asserted that he engaged in no illicit activities and clarified that he never stayed overnight during their meetings, which took place in various countries. During the Tuesday meeting, Gates also revealed personal details, including past affairs with a Russian bridge player and a nuclear physicist, and mentioned that his associate, Boris Nikolic, had discussed these relationships with Epstein. This candid conversation comes in the wake of Gates' divorce from Melinda French, which concluded in 2021. A representative from the Gates Foundation noted that Gates answered a range of questions from staff, including topics surrounding the Epstein files, the foundation’s initiatives in artificial intelligence, and its vision for global health. The spokesperson emphasized that Gates took accountability for his past actions during the dialogue. The release of extensive documents by the U.S. Justice Department in January implicated numerous prominent figures, prompting some, like Dr. Peter Attia, to resign from their positions due to their connections with Epstein. Gates has previously expressed regret about his association with the disgraced financier. This week, the foundation announced that Gates would not attend an anticipated artificial intelligence summit in India. In the newly unveiled documents, Gates and Epstein discussed various topics, including philanthropic fundraising efforts and Microsoft’s CEO search, even making a $1 wager regarding the Euro's performance. The Gates Foundation clarified that only a small number of employees engaged with Epstein based on his claims of being able to mobilize substantial philanthropic resources for global health and development, but emphasized that no funds were ever disbursed to him. In a statement, the foundation condemned the harm inflicted by Epstein on women and girls, asserting that such experiences should never be endured by anyone.
