The latest circular AI deal stars Anthropic, Nvidia, and Microsoft

In a groundbreaking move within the artificial intelligence sector, Anthropic, Nvidia, and Microsoft have announced a monumental partnership aimed at amplifying AI capabilities. Anthropic revealed plans on Tuesday to invest a staggering $30 billion in computing resources to enhance its Claude AI model utilizing Microsoft's Azure cloud services, which will be significantly supported by Nvidia's technology. As part of this ambitious collaboration, Nvidia has pledged to contribute up to $10 billion to Anthropic, while Microsoft will invest as much as $5 billion. "We are thrilled to introduce our models as a premier option on Microsoft Azure, marking Anthropic as the first to be available on all three major cloud platforms," stated Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei in an announcement video. Microsoft, known for its strategic investments in AI including a notable stake in OpenAI, has recently finalized its financial restructuring involving the leading AI model developer. Additionally, Microsoft maintains a partnership with Elon Musk’s xAI, facilitating the hosting of Grok4 on Azure’s AI Foundry. In a further commitment to this partnership, Anthropic plans to secure extra computing capacity of up to one gigawatt, which will be powered by Nvidia's advanced Grace Blackwell and Vera Rubin systems. This announcement emerges amidst ongoing concerns regarding a potential AI bubble, as Wall Street grapples with soaring valuations and significant investments in the sector. Investors are keenly awaiting Nvidia's earnings report on Wednesday, which is anticipated to serve as a critical indicator of the market's perspective on the AI landscape. Notably, Nvidia, which recently achieved a $4 trillion market valuation, has seen its shares decline approximately 7% over the past week.
