Bending Spoons, the Italian app development powerhouse known for its strategic acquisitions including Eventbrite, Vimeo, and WeTransfer, has announced its intention to go public in the United States. This move places the company alongside notable names like SpaceX and Anthropic, who are also gearing up for initial public offerings this summer. With a staggering 500 million monthly active users and 9 million paying subscribers, Bending Spoons has established a strong foothold in the app market. Since its inception, the company has successfully executed over 50 acquisitions, enhancing its portfolio with brands such as AOL, Komoot, Evernote, and Brightcove. In its official filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Bending Spoons reported impressive financial results, concluding the previous year with $1.31 billion in revenue. The company also highlighted a remarkable 132% year-on-year revenue growth, achieving $601 million in the first quarter of 2026 alone. A significant portion of its income—84%—is derived from subscription services, and it reported a profit of $27.4 million during the same quarter. Last year, Bending Spoons reached a valuation of $11 billion, a substantial increase from its $2.8 billion assessment in 2024. Reports from April suggested that the company could aim for a valuation of $20 billion with its upcoming IPO. Major investors, including Baillie Gifford, Cox Enterprises, Durable Capital Partners, and Fidelity, have backed the firm, solidifying its financial foundation. The company is known for targeting struggling businesses, streamlining their operations, and redirecting them towards profitability through innovative subscription models. Bending Spoons' strategic approach could redefine how app studios operate in an increasingly competitive landscape.
