Sony launches wearable AC to help you beat the summer heatwaves: All details

Sony has introduced an innovative wearable air conditioning device known as the Reon Pocket Pro Plus, designed to assist users in combating the sweltering heat of summer. This unique gadget is intended to be worn discreetly beneath clothing, featuring a stainless-steel cooling panel that rests comfortably against the back of the neck, supported by an adjustable neckband. The Reon Pocket Pro Plus boasts a remarkable 20% improvement in cooling performance, effectively lowering temperatures by up to 2 degrees Celsius compared to its predecessor. In addition to enhanced cooling capabilities, the device incorporates a redesigned neckband that offers a more secure fit, making it ideal for walking or light activities. One of the standout features of this wearable AC is its versatility; it can also provide warmth during the winter months. The battery life is impressive, lasting up to 10 hours even on the second-highest cooling setting. Sony notes that while the cooling effect is primarily targeted at the upper back, users will experience a broader sensation of relief throughout their body. Equipped with sensors that monitor skin temperature, the Reon Pocket Pro Plus ensures a safe and comfortable experience. The device works in conjunction with a second-generation Pocket Tag, which can be conveniently attached to a belt or bag. This tag wirelessly transmits ambient temperature and humidity data to the Reon, allowing for more accurate temperature regulation based on external conditions. Although the unit is designed to be relatively discreet, it is visible under a T-shirt, with an air vent that is adjustable to direct hot air away from the body, preventing discomfort against clothing. However, it is not recommended for use by individuals who sleep on their backs at night. To enhance user safety, Sony has integrated an automatic shut-off system to prevent overheating during operation. The Reon Pocket Pro Plus is currently available for £199 (approximately Rs 25,578) in the UK and €229 (around Rs 25,409) in Europe, while its release in India remains unconfirmed. This latest addition to Sony’s Reon line follows previous models that have been available in Asia, with future releases planned for the UK and Europe in the coming years.
