In an impressive reveal, Ayaneo has introduced its Next II handheld gaming device, eclipsing previous contenders like Lenovo’s Legion Go with its staggering weight and robust specifications. Weighing in at a hefty 3.14 pounds, this new handheld is significantly heavier than the Steam Deck OLED and even more so than its predecessor, the original Ayaneo Next, which tipped the scales at 1.58 pounds. With dimensions of 13.45 inches in width and 10.3 inches in height, the Ayaneo Next II boasts a footprint that is roughly 60% larger than that of the upcoming Switch 2 when Joy-Cons are attached. Despite its bulk, this device packs a powerful punch in terms of performance. The high-end model is equipped with the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 chipset, featuring 16 Zen5 cores and a Radeon 8060S GPU with 40 RDNA3.5 compute units. This setup offers gaming experiences on par with a desktop sporting an RTX 4060 or a gaming laptop like the premium ROG Flow Z13 from last year. While Ayaneo isn’t the first to incorporate the Max+ 395 chipset into a handheld format—competing devices such as the OneXPlayer OneXfly Apex and GPD Win5 also utilize it, albeit with some variations—the Next II distinguishes itself with its superior 9.06-inch OLED display. Capable of a stunning 2400×1504 resolution, it supports refresh rates of up to 165 Hz and an impressive brightness of 1,155 nits, making it a formidable option for gamers on the go.
