AWS denies outage after users in US and India report service issues

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has addressed recent concerns from users in the United States and India regarding a potential service outage. On Thursday, the cloud computing giant firmly stated that its systems were operating normally and encouraged users to consult its official service status page for reliable updates. The clarification came after Downdetector, a platform that tracks service interruptions, noted a surge in reports from users, particularly around 7 am IST. Over 4,300 users in the US reported issues, while complaints in India were lower, with around 25 to 30 users indicating disruptions in major cities like Bengaluru, Mumbai, and New Delhi. In response to the rising speculation on social media, AWS took to X to assert that the claims of an outage were unfounded. The company emphasized, "No, that’s false. AWS services are operating normally today, but an event elsewhere on the internet has prompted some inaccurate speculation on social media. The only resource on the internet that provides accurate data on the availability of our services is the #AWS Health Dashboard." During the peak of these complaints, many users reported difficulties accessing popular gaming platforms such as ARC Raiders, Fortnite, Rocket League, and other titles from Epic Games. As cloud-related disruptions often create confusion—given that many online services share the same infrastructure—identifying the exact source of problems can be challenging. Such incidents have become more frequent as reliance on cloud services increases. Earlier this month, a significant AWS outage affected various platforms, including Amazon Prime Video and Snapchat, leading to widespread user reports. Additionally, Cloudflare experienced brief outages that disrupted access to several services this month and in previous months, highlighting the ongoing challenges within the cloud infrastructure landscape.
