Amazon faces further AWS disruption in the Middle East from Iran conflict

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced that it is currently encountering service interruptions in Bahrain due to the escalating conflict in the Middle East. A spokesperson for AWS stated, "We are working closely with local authorities and prioritizing the safety of our personnel throughout our recovery efforts." This statement was made public through CNBC. In light of the ongoing situation, AWS has urged its customers to transition their applications to alternative AWS Regions, mentioning that they have already assisted a significant number of users with this migration. These disruptions come on the heels of previous incidents earlier in March, where AWS also faced service outages linked to the Iran conflict in Bahrain and the UAE. During those earlier disruptions, two AWS facilities in the UAE were directly impacted by drone strikes. Additionally, a drone strike in Bahrain occurred near AWS facilities, causing physical damage. The fallout from these attacks had previously resulted in outages for various applications and digital services across the UAE. The region has seen Iran escalate its missile and drone attacks on neighboring countries as part of a broader response to tensions with Israel and the U.S.
