Audi design finds its minimalist groove again with Concept C

Audi enthusiasts have reason to celebrate as the iconic automaker reveals its latest marvel, the Concept C—an elegant two-seater that signals a fresh design philosophy. This sports car embodies a minimalist aesthetic while hinting at the daring styles that once defined Audi's success. The design team, led by Chief Creative Officer Massimo Frascella, draws inspiration from the brand's illustrious history without resorting to mere nostalgia. Notably, the Concept C pays homage to the pre-war Silver Arrows racing cars, particularly the 1936 Auto Union Type C, a significant part of Audi's heritage as one of the four brands that merged to create Auto Union. Distinctive features of the Concept C, like the slatted rear, evoke memories of the cooling louvres found on the Type C, essential for managing the heat of its powerful V16 engine. Additionally, the vehicle's sleek slab sides are reminiscent of the streamlined Rennlimousine, presenting a striking simplicity that contrasts sharply with the more intricate design elements of the 1995 TT concept. Moreover, the air intakes positioned beneath the headlights bring to mind the classic Bentley Hunaudieres, another pivotal concept from 1999.
