Ashish Kumar, the co-founder of Fundamentum Partnership, has introduced an innovative investment platform named F2A (Fundamentum Frontier Advisors), specifically aimed at supporting AI and deeptech startups. This initiative is particularly focused on various sectors, including consumer, enterprise, and physical AI. The launch of F2A follows the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) granting approval for the platform's fund, Fundamentum III – AI and DeepTech, which is set to have a target corpus of Rs 2,000 crore. In addition, F2A will manage up to Rs 1,000 crore in parallel co-investments, bringing the total investment potential to an impressive Rs 3,000 crore. Debraj Banerjee, a former senior investment executive at SIDBI Venture Capital, has been appointed as General Partner of the new platform. F2A has garnered support from a range of institutional and individual investors, including notable anchor investor Nandan Nilekani, co-founder of Infosys. This launch underscores the growing interest among investors in AI-driven and deeptech ventures, as India emerges as a key player in the development of next-generation technologies. "We are witnessing a significant transformation in the development and adoption of AI and DeepTech across various sectors," stated Kumar. He emphasized that F2A is a continuation of their mission to collaborate with founders who are creating sustainable, technology-centric businesses, maintaining the disciplined, long-term investment strategy that has characterized Fundamentum. Kumar highlighted that India possesses a unique blend of talent, ambition, favorable policies, and capital, which are essential for the growth of frontier-tech enterprises. F2A will concentrate on startups innovating in consumer AI, enterprise AI, and physical AI, fields that are attracting increasing levels of global investor interest due to advancements in generative AI and automation technologies. He also mentioned that he will continue to oversee the existing portfolio from Fundamentum's prior funds while developing F2A.
