Apple’s MacBook Ultra could debut with OLED screen and two new sizes

Apple is gearing up to launch its highly anticipated MacBook Ultra, a premium laptop expected to surpass the existing Pro model in terms of features and performance. This new series promises significant upgrades in display technology, design, and specifications. While some sources suggest it could be an entirely new model, others point to it being a next-generation iteration of the MacBook Pro. Recent insights from Omdia indicate that the MacBook Ultra will likely incorporate an OLED screen supplied by Samsung Display. This innovative panel is expected to utilize a hybrid OLED technology that merges Oxide TFT (Thin-Film Transistor) with RGB tandem OLED. Such a combination is anticipated to enhance power efficiency, offering users extended battery life, better heat management, and improved overall performance. Additionally, the more compact display components could allow Apple to create a sleeker, lighter design or accommodate larger batteries and other essential elements. Rumors suggest that the MacBook Ultra will come in two display sizes: 14.3 inches and 16.3 inches, a slight increase compared to the current MacBook Pro’s 14.2-inch and 16.2-inch options. The expected launch window is set for the third quarter of 2026, likely in September, aligning with the release schedule of the iPhone 18 Pro. If these reports hold true, the MacBook Ultra will mark a significant milestone as Apple’s inaugural laptop featuring an OLED display.
