Apple is gearing up for the highly anticipated launch of its sleek iPhone 17 Air at the upcoming "Awe Dropping" event on September 9. This new model is poised to take the place of the iPhone 16 Plus and is expected to go head-to-head with Samsung's Galaxy S25 Edge, vying for the title of the slimmest flagship smartphone available. The iPhone 17 Air is rumored to feature a 6.6-inch display, which positions it between the standard iPhone 17 and the Pro Max variant. A significant enhancement over its predecessor, the iPhone 16 Plus, is the anticipated 120Hz ProMotion AMOLED display, promising smoother visuals and improved responsiveness. Under the hood, the device is likely to be powered by the new A19 processor, similar to that of the iPhone 17. Additionally, it may boast an increase in RAM to 12GB, up from 8GB, enhancing multitasking capabilities and performance during Apple Intelligence operations. However, there may be some compromises in the camera and battery departments. While the iPhone 17 Air is expected to feature a 24MP selfie camera, it might only come equipped with a single 48MP primary camera. Users should also be aware that the battery could be smaller than 3,000mAh, potentially limiting the device's ability to last a full day on a single charge. Another notable aspect is the introduction of Apple's own 5G modem, which may only support sub-6GHz speeds, unlike the faster Qualcomm modems expected in the iPhone 17 and 17 Pro models. Design-wise, the iPhone 17 Air is rumored to showcase a striking new look with a horizontal pill-shaped camera module and a thin profile, measuring around 5.5mm in thickness and weighing less than 150 grams. In terms of pricing, the iPhone 17 Air is expected to see an increase of $50 to $100 compared to the iPhone 16 Plus, likely setting its price between $950 and $1,000 in the United States. In India, the anticipated cost could range from ₹90,000 to ₹1,00,000, marking it as a premium offering in the market.
