Apple is gearing up for its highly anticipated "Awe Dropping" event, scheduled for September 9th at its Cupertino headquarters. This year, the tech titan is expected to unveil four models from the iPhone 17 series, along with several innovative accessories that will take center stage during its most significant hardware launch of the year. The lineup is rumored to include the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. A notable addition this year is the iPhone 17 Air, which will succeed last year's Plus model. Apple is anticipated to make significant advancements in display technology, with all new iPhone 17 variants rumored to feature a 120Hz ProMotion LTPO OLED display. The iPhone 17 may boast a larger 6.3-inch screen, compared to its predecessor's 6.1-inch display, while the iPhone 17 Air could sport a 6.6-inch display. The Pro and Pro Max models are expected to maintain display sizes of 6.3 inches and 6.8 inches, respectively. Camera enhancements are also on the horizon, particularly for the selfie camera, which is said to be upgraded from 12MP to an impressive 24MP, allowing for improved detail retention and up to 2x cropping without sacrificing quality. In terms of design, while the iPhone 17 may resemble its predecessor, the iPhone 17 Air is set to feature a fresh horizontal pill-shaped camera layout reminiscent of Google's Pixel devices. This model is predicted to be both the lightest and thinnest iPhone yet, with a thickness of around 5.5mm and a weight of approximately 145 grams. However, this reduction in size may lead to a smaller battery capacity of less than 3,000mAh and a simplified single-camera setup. Moreover, the iPhone 17 Pro variants are expected to transition from the square camera module to a horizontal camera bump, housing a triple-camera system. The telephoto lens in the Pro models is likely to see a significant upgrade from 12MP to 48MP, featuring 3.5x optical zoom. If confirmed, this would make the Pro models the first iPhones equipped with a 48MP triple-camera setup. The iPhone 17 Pro Max could also see an increase in battery capacity, with a 5,000mAh battery expected, up from 4,676mAh in its predecessor. On the processing front, the iPhone 17 Pro is likely to feature the new A19 Pro chipset based on a 3nm process, while both the iPhone 17 Air and iPhone 17 could utilize the standard A19 chipset. All models, except for the base iPhone 17, are expected to come equipped with 12GB of RAM to enhance performance, particularly in Apple Intelligence tasks. In addition to the iPhone announcements, Apple is anticipated to introduce the Apple Watch Series 11 and Watch Ultra 3, both powered by the new S11 processor and running on WatchOS 26. A new version of the Apple Watch SE may also debut, marking the first upgrade since the Apple Watch SE 2 launched in 2022. Lastly, the event could see the introduction of AirPods Pro 3, featuring a refreshed design and the new H3 chipset, which is likely to enhance battery life and improve Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). New health-related features, including heart rate monitoring and temperature sensing, are also expected to be included. Stay tuned for more details on pricing, features, and launch dates for the iPhone 17 series and other anticipated products.
