Apple unveils tvOS 26 with visual overhaul, iPhone karaoke support and more at WWDC 2025

At WWDC 2025, Apple has unveiled the latest iteration of its operating system for Apple TV, tvOS 26, which comes packed with a stunning visual redesign and a host of innovative features designed to enhance user experience. One of the standout changes is the revamped cinematic poster art that now boasts Liquid Glass effects, providing a more visually appealing interface. This update makes it easier for users to explore a wider array of shows and films, ensuring that discovering new content is more engaging than ever. Additionally, the enhanced profile-switching feature simplifies access to personalized Watchlists and Apple Music playlists, allowing users to dive straight into their favorites as soon as they sit down. Another exciting addition is the Apple Music Sing feature, which transforms iPhones into microphones for karaoke sessions on Apple TV. Users can amplify their voices while following along with real-time lyrics displayed on the big screen, complete with engaging visual effects. This feature supports multiple iPhones, enabling friends to join in the fun by queuing songs and sending emoji reactions. Moreover, the new Lyrics Translation and Pronunciation tools aid users in singing along with international hits, even if they are not fluent in the language. Apple is also taking FaceTime to the next level by introducing Contact Posters that appear during calls, ensuring a consistent visual identity across devices. The FaceTime Live Captions feature has expanded, now supporting six additional languages—French, German, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, and Spanish—thanks to advanced on-device intelligence. Users can receive audio and call notifications tailored to their active profile, with the flexibility to answer calls using connected HomePods or iPhones. Finally, tvOS 26 introduces Aerial screen savers from picturesque locations in India, including stunning views of Goa and Kerala. Users can customize which categories of screen savers they want to see, adding a personal touch to their viewing experience. Additionally, Apple TV now allows for the selection of any AirPlay-enabled speaker as a permanent audio output, offering greater flexibility for home entertainment setups.
