Apple’s Siri revamp could include auto-deleting chats

Apple is gearing up to unveil a revamped version of Siri at the upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference this June, with privacy being a central theme of the redesign. According to insights from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, this relaunch presents a significant opportunity for Apple to reaffirm its position in the realm of artificial intelligence. In its efforts to distinguish itself, Apple is expected to showcase a more privacy-centric model compared to other AI platforms. The tech giant is rumored to introduce the first standalone Siri application, enhanced by Google Gemini technology, which aims to deliver a chatbot experience similar to ChatGPT. However, this new app is anticipated to impose stricter limitations on the duration for which user data can be retained, setting it apart from its competitors. One of the noteworthy features being discussed is an automatic conversation deletion option, akin to that found in the Messages app. Users may have the flexibility to erase chats after a set period, such as 30 days or one year, or choose to retain them indefinitely. Additionally, Gurman hinted that Apple’s focus on privacy might serve as a buffer against criticisms regarding Siri's performance relative to rival products, while also acknowledging that Google is managing certain security aspects of the new application.
