Apple eyes Hyderabad for next retail store in India: Everything we know so far

Apple is gearing up for its next retail venture in India, with Hyderabad emerging as the latest target for its expansion plans. Following the successful launch of five flagship stores across the country, the tech giant is actively seeking candidates for various positions in Hyderabad, as indicated by recent job postings on the Apple Careers page. Positions such as Store Leader, Senior Manager, and Genius have been listed, signaling the company's serious intent to establish a presence in the city. While an official opening date has yet to be disclosed, industry speculation suggests that the Hyderabad store could be operational by early 2027. Historically, Apple has begun its recruitment process approximately a year prior to a store's inauguration. In addition to the Hyderabad location, reports indicate that Apple is also planning to unveil another retail outlet in Mumbai by 2026, marking a significant step in its strategy to enhance its footprint in India. The company recently celebrated the opening of its fifth retail store at DLF Mall of India in Noida, following successful launches in Hebbal (Bengaluru) and Koregaon (Pune). This expansion into Hyderabad comes on the heels of a record-breaking year for Apple in India, where it captured a remarkable 28% value share of the smartphone market, according to Counterpoint Research. Although the specific location of the new store in Hyderabad has not been confirmed, the company is likely to target affluent areas such as Gachibowli or the Financial District. India remains an essential market for Apple, with CEO Tim Cook referring to it as a critical growth engine, particularly following a surge in quarterly revenue driven by strong demand for devices like the iPhone, Mac, and iPad, especially among first-time buyers. As anticipation builds, all eyes will be on the end of the year for further announcements regarding the new stores in Hyderabad and Mumbai.
