In a surprising move, Apple is reportedly gearing up to unveil the iPhone 17e in early 2026, a year earlier than anticipated. This new device is expected to feature significant camera upgrades, enhancing the photography experience for users. According to insights from GF Securities analyst Jeff Pu, as relayed by MacRumors, the iPhone 17e will debut alongside the 12th-generation iPad and a new MacBook powered by an A-series chip. This model will continue the trend established by the iPhone 16e, which effectively replaced the SE lineup, making it the most affordable iPhone equipped with Apple’s advanced features. The iPhone 17e is set to be powered by the A19 processor, mirroring the chipset found in the standard iPhone 17. Furthermore, it is likely to retain the Apple C1 modem featured in the iPhone 16e. A notable design change could also occur, with the device potentially adopting the Dynamic Island feature, moving away from the traditional notch that has characterized earlier models. Camera-wise, the iPhone 17e is expected to boast an impressive 18MP Center Stage front-facing camera, similar to that of the current iPhone 17 series. However, it may still utilize a single-camera setup on the rear, consistent with its predecessor. Looking ahead, Apple is anticipated to maintain its usual September launch schedule for the iPhone 18 series, but next year could bring a game-changing introduction of the iPhone Fold along with the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. The standard iPhone 18 might be delayed until 2027, where it could launch alongside the iPhone 18e. Notably, Pu emphasized that Apple is likely to remain unaffected by the recent surge in DDR memory prices, thanks to its robust procurement capabilities. Additionally, the upcoming 12th-generation iPad is expected to be the first in the Air series to integrate Apple’s advanced features powered by the A18 chipset, as seen in the iPhone 16 series.
