iPhone 17 Air could be Apple’s first eSIM-only iPhone for global markets

According to a report from Macrumors, Apple has mandated its retail staff at authorized resellers in the European Union to complete a training program focused on eSIM technology by September 5. While the report specifically mentions the EU, the ultra-thin design of the iPhone 17 Air hints that this eSIM-only feature might be applicable globally. Employees are required to undergo this training via Apple's SEED app, which is accessible to staff at Apple Stores and authorized resellers worldwide. Notably, since the launch of the iPhone 14, Apple has only offered eSIM support in the United States. The company has promoted eSIMs as a more secure alternative to physical SIM cards, as they cannot be removed even if the device is lost or stolen.
