As Apple gears up to showcase iOS 19 during the WWDC 2025 event on Monday, a wave of speculation has emerged about the innovative changes coming to its latest operating system. Sources from Bloomberg have indicated that Apple might rename its operating systems to reflect the year of release rather than continuing with numerical versions. Thus, what we currently know as iOS 19 could be branded as iOS 26, paralleling how car models are named by their release years. This renaming strategy would extend to other platforms, including iPadOS 26, macOS 26, watchOS 26, tvOS 26, and visionOS 26. According to reports, the upcoming iOS could feature the most dramatic design shift since iOS 7, drawing inspiration from the Vision Pro headset. This redesign may include translucent navigation panels and circular app icons, aiming to unify the aesthetic across Apple’s ecosystem for a more seamless user experience. Additionally, there's buzz about a new gaming app that will merge Apple Arcade with the App Store's gaming selections, creating a centralized location for achievements, leaderboards, and content from the App Store. This development follows Apple’s acquisition of its first game studio, RAC7. The tech giant is also rumored to be working on an AI feature designed to function as a personal health coach, providing tailored lifestyle suggestions and health advice based on data collected via the Health app. Moreover, enhancements to the Health app may introduce a food-tracking option, enabling users to monitor their carbohydrate and caffeine intake. Reports suggest that AI might also be utilized for better battery management on iPhones, analyzing usage patterns to optimize battery conservation. In addition to this, a new charging icon could appear on the lock screen, offering an estimated charging completion time. Another interesting prospect is the potential testing of reverse wireless charging on the iPhone 17 Pro models, allowing the device to charge accessories like AirPods or the Apple Watch. However, one notable omission from these rumors is the advanced Siri capabilities showcased during Apple’s 2024 presentation, which promised a more context-aware assistant capable of navigating various apps. Although there are expectations for some AI-related announcements, the primary emphasis is likely to be on the significant design updates. Reports also hint at enhancements to existing Apple Intelligence features, alongside new additions.
