In a significant leadership shift, Jeff Williams, the Chief Operating Officer of Apple, has declared his intention to retire later this month. This announcement came from the company on Tuesday, revealing that Sabih Khan, the current Senior Vice President of Operations, will succeed him as COO. Williams expressed his desire to step away from his role in order to enjoy more time with his family, including his five grandchildren. In a press release, he mentioned that he looks forward to embracing this new chapter of life. Before officially retiring later this year, Williams will continue to work closely with CEO Tim Cook, overseeing the design team and the ongoing development of the Apple Watch. Once he departs, the design team will report directly to Cook, ensuring a smooth transition. Having dedicated nearly 30 years to Apple, Williams has been instrumental in the launch of iconic products like the iPod and iPhone, as well as playing a key role in the Apple Watch's development. His contributions have left an indelible mark on the company’s legacy.
