Apple has officially launched an upgraded version of its AirTag, introducing significant enhancements after nearly five years since its initial release. This compact tracking device is renowned for helping users locate misplaced items such as luggage, keys, bicycles, and bags, while also offering protections against unwanted tracking. The new AirTag 2 is powered by a second-generation Ultra Wideband chip, which is also featured in the latest iPhone 17 models and the Apple Watch Series 11 and Ultra 3. This advanced chip significantly improves the 'Precision Finding' feature, allowing for better navigation through Haptic, Visual, and Audio feedback. According to Apple, this enhancement enables users to locate items from distances up to 50% farther than the previous model. In addition to the Ultra Wideband chip, the AirTag 2 is equipped with an upgraded Bluetooth chip that further expands its range. Users of the Apple Watch Series 9 or later can also benefit from the Precision Finding feature, adding to the device's convenience. One of the standout upgrades is the AirTag's speaker, which is now 50% louder than its predecessor. This improvement makes it easier to find the device in noisy environments or when it’s tucked away under furniture or inside bags. The new AirTag also features a 'Share Item Location' function, allowing users to share the live location of lost items with trusted individuals or organizations, such as airlines. Apple has collaborated with 50 airlines to facilitate this feature. As for pricing, the Apple AirTag 2 maintains a similar cost structure, retailing at $29 for a single unit and $99 for a four-pack. In India, the price is set at Rs. 3,790 for one and Rs. 12,900 for a four-pack. It's important to note that the new AirTag is compatible with iPhones running iOS 16 or later. Customers can purchase the tracking device through Apple's official website or the Apple Store app.
