Apple launches 14-inch MacBook Pro with M5 chip: See India pricing and availability

Apple has officially launched its latest 14-inch MacBook Pro, now equipped with the cutting-edge M5 chip, which significantly enhances speed, AI capabilities, and energy efficiency. This new processor boasts up to 3.5 times faster AI performance and 1.6 times improved graphics compared to its predecessor, all while ensuring outstanding battery life of up to 24 hours. The MacBook Pro retains its iconic design, featuring a stunning Liquid Retina XDR display, a 12MP Center Stage camera, and a six-speaker sound system. It also runs on the latest macOS Tahoe. The starting price remains at ₹1,69,900, available in both space black and silver, with pre-orders now open and shipments commencing on October 22. John Ternus, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering, highlighted the advancements, stating, “MacBook Pro continues to be the world’s best pro laptop, and today, the 14-inch MacBook Pro gets even better with the arrival of the M5 chip. M5 marks the next big leap in AI for the Mac and delivers a huge boost in graphics performance.” He emphasized that this device is tailored for a wide range of users, from students and creatives to developers and business professionals. The M5 chip, built on next-generation Apple silicon, enhances performance across various applications, particularly in AI workloads. It features a 10-core GPU, each equipped with a Neural Accelerator, and a 16-core Neural Engine that significantly improves on-device AI capabilities. This enables rapid text-to-image generation in apps like Draw Things, swift execution of large language models in LM Studio, and faster rendering in creative software, such as DaVinci Resolve. Storage options have also seen an upgrade, with SSD performance doubling compared to the previous generation, now offering configurations of up to 4TB. The M5 chip provides a 20 percent improvement in multithreaded CPU performance, making the new MacBook Pro ideal for developers and video editors. Tasks like compiling code, editing 4K videos, and rendering 3D scenes in Blender are now faster than ever. Performance enhancements include impressive metrics such as: - Up to 7.7x faster AI video enhancement in Topaz Video compared to the M1 model. - Up to 6.8x faster 3D rendering in Blender. - Up to 3.2x higher gaming frame rates compared to the 13-inch MacBook Pro with M1. - Up to 2.1x faster code compilation in Xcode versus the M1. Users transitioning from Intel-based or M1 models will experience dramatic improvements, with performance boosts of up to 86 times for AI tasks and 30 times for GPU performance with ray tracing. The MacBook Pro maintains full performance on battery, providing 24 hours of operation and a 50 percent fast charge capability in just 30 minutes with a 96W or higher USB-C power adapter. The Liquid Retina XDR display supports peak HDR brightness of up to 1600 nits and offers immersive sound through a six-speaker setup with Spatial Audio, enhancing both entertainment and creative workflows. With macOS Tahoe, users will benefit from design enhancements and productivity features like Live Activities, a redesigned Control Center, and improved Spotlight search, alongside new on-device AI capabilities such as Live Translation and generative tools for creativity and communication. The 14-inch MacBook Pro with M5 is priced starting at ₹1,69,900 (or ₹1,59,900 for educational discounts), with pre-orders available through Apple’s online store and app, and retail availability set to begin on October 22.
