Apple rolls out iOS 26 beta 6 with new ringtones, camera app fix and UI tweaks

Apple has introduced the sixth beta version of iOS 26 for developers, marking another step closer to the anticipated public release scheduled for September. This update also includes test versions for iPadOS, watchOS, tvOS, and macOS, as highlighted by TechCrunch. While the changes in this beta are relatively minor compared to previous versions, there are several noteworthy updates to explore. A standout feature is the addition of six new ringtones, all variations of the well-known "Reflection" tone. Among these, the ringtone named "Dreamer" has garnered attention from early testers across social media platforms. The update also addresses user feedback regarding the Camera app's mode switcher. Earlier iterations had altered the swipe direction for switching between camera modes, which led to user dissatisfaction. In beta 5, a new setting allowed users to revert to the previous functionality, dubbed "Classic Mode." However, this latest beta has removed that toggle, restoring the original swipe direction. Additional enhancements include quicker transitions in the user interface and new animations for opening and closing applications. The update further refines the "Liquid Glass" design system, which features a translucent and color-shifting interface. Users will notice improved effects while navigating app tabs, alongside visual updates to the Lock Screen and toggles. Moreover, upon installation, users will be greeted with a revamped onboarding sequence that showcases essential features of iOS 26, including redesigned icons and various interface changes across multiple apps. As is common with pre-release software, this beta also includes bug fixes, though users may encounter some new issues. Early testers have reported that this build feels more stable and responsive than its predecessors. The public beta version of iOS 26 is anticipated to include these changes in its next update.
