What is iPhone Pocket? Apple's $150 accessory inspired by ‘piece of cloth’

Apple has introduced a cutting-edge accessory known as the iPhone Pocket, designed for carrying your iPhone and other small essentials. This innovative product is the result of a collaboration with the renowned fashion label ISSEY MIYAKE, showcasing a design inspired by a simple "piece of cloth." The iPhone Pocket features a unique 3D-knitted construction, allowing it to accommodate any iPhone model along with additional pocketable items. According to Apple, the development of the iPhone Pocket took place in Japan, with significant input from ISSEY MIYAKE’s design team, ensuring a blend of style and functionality. Yoshiyuki Miyamae, design director at MIYAKE DESIGN STUDIO, expressed that the accessory embodies the idea of personal expression and versatility, stating, "The simplicity of its design echoes what we practice at ISSEY MIYAKE—leaving things less defined to allow for possibilities and personal interpretation." The iPhone Pocket is designed with a ribbed open structure that reflects the signature pleats characteristic of ISSEY MIYAKE's fashion. This accessory can be utilized in various ways, such as being handheld, attached to bags, or even worn on clothing sleeves. Additionally, a long-strap version is available for those who prefer to wear it across their body. Notably, this accessory is engineered to securely hold the iPhone while also accommodating other small, essential items. Users can easily access their belongings through the open design, which provides a glimpse of the iPhone inside. This new launch follows Apple’s recent introduction of the Crossbody Strap, designed to complement the iPhone 17 series, which also featured built-in attachment points for added convenience. Priced at $149.95 for the standard design and $229.95 for the long-strap version, the iPhone Pocket will be available for purchase starting November 14 in various regions, including France, Greater China, Italy, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, the UK, and the US. The short-strap design will be offered in a vibrant array of colors such as lemon, mandarin, purple, pink, peacock, sapphire, cinnamon, and black, while the long-strap design will be available in sapphire, cinnamon, and black variants.
