WWDC 2025: Everything announced, including Liquid Glass, Apple Intelligence updates, and more

The highly anticipated WWDC 2025 commenced on Monday, showcasing a range of software updates and cutting-edge technologies. Central to the event was the introduction of iOS 26, with Apple under pressure to enhance its offerings amid increasing competition in the AI sector and ongoing legal hurdles regarding its App Store. A notable highlight was the unveiling of Liquid Glass, a striking new user interface design. This visually stunning update features shiny, reflective elements that mimic glass, providing a unique and engaging user experience. In a shift from its traditional naming conventions, Apple has decided to label its operating systems by the year, resulting in the new designations: iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS 26, tvOS 26, watchOS 26, and visionOS 26. Apple also introduced an innovative gaming app aimed at consolidating gaming experiences across its devices. This app will function as a centralized hub for games, enabling users to monitor achievements, view leaderboards, and enjoy social features such as a “Play Together” tab for competitive play with friends. The presentation included a sneak peek at watchOS 26, which will feature the new Liquid Glass interface, a wrist-flick gesture for navigation, and the Apple Intelligence-powered Workout Buddy fitness feature. Apple TV is set for a makeover as well, adopting the Liquid Glass aesthetic. A standout feature will allow users to quickly select their profiles upon waking the device, streamlining the viewing experience for families. Additionally, a new karaoke feature promises to enhance entertainment options. MacOS 26, also known as Tahoe, will share the Liquid Glass design and incorporate an AI-powered Shortcuts app for increased productivity. iPadOS will introduce new tools that enhance the iPad's functionality, making it feel more like a Mac with features like markup with Apple Pencil and the ability to export images in various formats. The Vision Pro AR/VR headset will receive new accessories, including compatibility with Logitech's Muse stylus and PlayStation’s VR2 Sense controller. Meanwhile, the AirPods line is set to gain significant upgrades, including studio-quality audio recording and camera remote capabilities. CarPlay will see three major enhancements: the introduction of widgets and live activities, a new response feature for incoming messages, and the ability to pin favorite conversations, similar to functionalities in iMessage. Smaller yet noteworthy updates include travel-friendly features for Apple Wallet, interactive polls in iMessages, and innovative enhancements in Maps that will learn users' commuting habits.
