Apple has officially announced its upcoming hardware event scheduled for September 9 at 10 a.m. PT. Anticipation is building as the tech giant is expected to introduce the iPhone 17 series, along with new models of the Apple Watch and AirPods. This year's event marks the beginning of a significant redesign phase for the iPhone, which is progressing towards a foldable model projected for 2026. For now, the focus is on the iPhone 17, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max, with speculation surrounding a potential new model dubbed the iPhone Air. The iPhone 17 is rumored to feature a 6.3-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 24MP front camera, representing a substantial upgrade over the iPhone 16. It is expected to be available in eye-catching purple and green colors, with a starting price around $800. The iPhone 17 Pro is anticipated to showcase a new rectangular camera bar on the rear, transitioning from titanium to aluminum to reduce costs and weight. This model could start at $1,050 and may offer fewer storage options compared to its predecessor. Meanwhile, the Pro Max is expected to come with a larger battery in a slightly thicker frame, with an estimated price point of $1,250. Among the most talked-about rumors is the introduction of the iPhone Air, which might take over the Plus model's position. This sleek device is said to be just 5.5mm thick with a 6.6-inch display, making it Apple's thinnest phone to date. Reports suggest a launch price of around $950, with color options including black, silver, and light gold. However, it may feature compromises such as a single rear camera and possible limitations on speakers. On the wearables front, Apple is likely to present the Apple Watch Series 11, Ultra 3, and SE 3. The Ultra 3 may come equipped with faster charging capabilities, 5G, satellite connectivity, and potentially new health monitoring features for blood pressure and sleep apnea. Additionally, the AirPods Pro 3 are expected to debut with a revamped design, including touch-sensitive controls, smaller earbud sizes, and a more compact case enhanced by the new H3 chip to improve active noise cancellation and adaptive audio. Apple may also introduce new accessories, including "TechWoven" cases for the iPhone 17 Pro featuring crossbody straps, marking a shift from the discontinued FineWoven line. The entire event will be available for streaming on apple.com and through Apple's YouTube channel.
