Apple’s 2026 MacBook Pro lineup to introduce OLED and 5G support: Mark Gurman

In an exciting development for tech enthusiasts, Apple is gearing up for a major overhaul of its MacBook Pro lineup. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the upcoming models will feature OLED displays, touch functionality, and a sleeker design, marking the most significant redesign since the 2021 versions. Expected to launch between late 2026 and early 2027, the next-generation MacBook Pros will likely be exclusive to the higher-end M6 Pro and M6 Max models. This upgrade will introduce a vibrant OLED display that also supports touch input, enhancing user interaction and experience. The new models are anticipated to be thinner and lighter, aligning with Apple's ongoing commitment to create powerful yet portable professional machines. Interestingly, the OLED upgrade is expected to be reserved for the M6 Pro and M6 Max variants, while the entry-level MacBook Pro will continue to utilize its current miniLED display for at least another generation, effectively distinguishing the professional range. Gurman also hinted at a potential redesign of the display notch, suggesting a shift to a Dynamic Island-style cutout similar to that found on the latest iPhones. This change could offer not just a fresh aesthetic but also enhanced functionality, tying the MacBook Pro's design more closely to Apple's wider product ecosystem. In addition to display advancements, Apple is reportedly considering the incorporation of built-in 5G connectivity in its new MacBook Pro models. While this feature has been speculated for some time, it would represent a significant milestone as Apple integrates mobile network support into its laptops, greatly benefiting professionals who work on the go. The M6 Pro and M6 Max chips are set to provide substantial performance and efficiency improvements, further bolstering Apple's strategy of developing its own silicon. Currently, Apple offers three configurations of the MacBook Pro in India, starting with the entry-level 14-inch model powered by the M5 chip at ₹1,69,900 for the 16GB + 512GB variant, while the M4 Pro and M4 Max models start at ₹1,99,900, featuring superior performance and advanced cooling systems. As these OLED-equipped models approach their release, they promise to redefine visual and functional standards for Apple's professional laptops.
