Apple has unveiled a significant redesign of its App Store's web interface, enhancing usability for individuals accessing it from non-Apple devices. Previously, while users could view individual app pages via search engines, browsing the App Store was not an option. Attempting to access an iOS app's page on a Macbook would redirect users to the native App Store application, leaving those on non-Apple hardware without a viable way to explore. The revamped design now enables users to browse apps by category and platform, featuring dedicated sections for iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and more. While direct app downloads from the web are not yet possible, this feature could potentially be introduced in the future. Although the number of users seeking to explore iOS apps from a Microsoft device may be limited, this improvement could be particularly beneficial for app developers or researchers working across both iOS and Google ecosystems. This redesign reflects Apple's ongoing efforts to present itself as a more open ecosystem. Over the years, the company has faced numerous complaints from governments worldwide, accusing it of monopolistic practices that stifle competition. By making its products more accessible beyond its own ecosystem, Apple is taking important steps that are relevant to its ongoing legal challenges.
