Apple has announced significant price increases for a range of its products in India, affecting popular devices like MacBooks, iPads, HomePods, and Apple TV. This decision comes shortly after CEO Tim Cook stated that price hikes are becoming necessary due to the surging demand for artificial intelligence. The new pricing sees increases of up to ₹1,00,000 on certain models, with the less expensive MacBook Neo experiencing a price jump from ₹69,900 to ₹79,900, marking a 14% rise. The MacBook Air M5 has also seen a substantial increase, now priced at ₹1,49,900 compared to its previous ₹1,20,900. Other significant hikes include the MacBook Pro M5, which rose from ₹1,69,900 to ₹2,39,900, and the MacBook Pro M5 Max, which now costs ₹4,99,900, up from ₹3,99,900. In addition to laptops, iPads are also affected, with the 11th Gen iPad increasing from ₹39,900 to ₹49,900 and the iPad Mini from ₹49,900 to ₹69,900. The iPad Air and iPad Pro have seen similar hikes, with prices now standing at ₹89,900 and ₹1,39,900, respectively. Apple TV 4K now retails for ₹25,900, a significant jump from ₹14,900, while the HomePod and HomePod Mini have been raised to ₹44,900 and ₹15,900, respectively. These price adjustments are not isolated to India, as many global markets are experiencing similar increases due to rising costs of RAM and NAND flash components. As Apple contends with the same challenges facing other manufacturers, analysts suggest that consumers may see further price hikes in the future across various electronics as component prices remain elevated.
