Apple is set to enhance its Maps application with a significant update in iOS 26 that will transform how users navigate their daily commutes. Announced during the WWDC 2025 event, this upgrade aims to better understand individual travel patterns and proactively suggest the best routes based on real-time traffic conditions. The new feature will allow your iPhone to learn your typical commute, including the routes you frequently take to work, home, or even when picking up your children from school. With this intelligent system, the Maps app will provide suggestions for these routes, enabling users to preview their commutes and estimate travel times before they set out. In addition to offering familiar routes, the updated Maps will also recommend alternative paths in case of traffic congestion or unexpected delays, ensuring that users can arrive at their destinations on time. Moreover, the update introduces a feature that allows iPhone users to track the restaurants and shops they visit frequently. This capability will help users remember their previous locations, which can be accessed through a dedicated Maps library. Privacy is a priority for Apple; users will have the option to easily delete their location history with a simple swipe, and all stored data will be secured with end-to-end encryption. This update is just one of many exciting announcements from WWDC 2025, where Apple also unveiled a redesigned software interface and enhanced AI capabilities for app developers, including deeper integration of OpenAI’s ChatGPT into the iPhone ecosystem.
