Apple has unveiled an ambitious new initiative aimed at enhancing the skills of its supplier workforce with the introduction of a pioneering Education Hub in Bengaluru. This facility is designed specifically to provide training and skill development for employees working at Apple supplier locations throughout India. In collaboration with the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), the Education Hub will offer specialized courses in digital education and Swift coding, set to begin in March. Lt. Gen. (Dr.) M.D. Venkatesh, Vice Chancellor at MAHE, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating, "This collaboration merges Apple’s dedication to its supplier employees with Manipal’s expertise in applied education, fostering significant growth opportunities." As detailed in Apple’s announcement, faculty from MAHE will prepare instructors who will conduct training sessions directly at various supplier facilities. The program will kick off at Tata Electronics and will eventually extend to over 25 Apple supplier sites across the nation. This educational effort is backed by Apple’s global $50 million Supplier Employee Development Fund, reflecting the company's commitment to long-term investment in its workforce. Sarah Chandler, Apple’s Vice President of Environment and Supply Chain Innovation, noted, "We’re excited to broaden our technical training offerings in India, providing thousands of employees with the chance to acquire valuable new skills and pursue diverse career opportunities." Currently, Apple provides more than 75 courses covering technical, digital, and professional skills for employees at supplier facilities in India. Following the successful implementation of a robotics training program for factory staff in December 2022, Apple has plans to expand this initiative further in 2026. Additionally, the company aims to qualify factory educators at robotics labs to ensure tailored training based on specific factory needs.
