Apple has officially launched the third iteration of its Apple Watch SE, now equipped with an Always-On display and powered by the new S10 chip. This latest model introduces several impressive features, including a sleep score metric, wrist temperature sensing, retrospective ovulation estimates, and enhanced durability with tougher glass. Additionally, the Watch SE 3 supports 5G connectivity for quicker downloads and improved performance. Preorders for the device are open now, with units expected to hit stores starting Friday, September 19. Stan Ng, Apple’s vice president of Apple Watch and Health Product Marketing, expressed enthusiasm about the SE 3, stating, "This model provides an exceptional entry point for users looking to begin their Apple Watch journey, combining robust health, fitness, safety, and connectivity features at a remarkable value." Notable upgrades include the Always-On display, which allows users to view the time and notifications effortlessly without raising their wrists. The new glass design is four times more crack-resistant, utilizing Apple’s advanced Ion-X process. The battery life remains at up to 18 hours, supported by fast charging capabilities that can add up to eight hours in approximately 15 minutes and reach about 80% charge within 45 minutes. The sleep score feature provides users with insights into their nightly rest, informed by leading sleep organizations and trained on extensive data. Enhanced health monitoring is also available with wrist temperature sensing and retrospective ovulation estimates, which aim to refine period predictions. Core functionalities such as activity rings, workout tracking, and various fitness metrics remain integral to the watch. With the introduction of watchOS 26, the SE 3 will feature the Workout Buddy, offering personalized spoken motivation through Apple Intelligence, alongside a refreshed Workout app that includes custom workouts and auto-start options for music or podcasts. Private health data management is supported through a faster on-device Siri, which can log or access health information efficiently. The SE 3 introduces innovative gesture controls, including double-tap and wrist flick, improving user interaction. Voice Isolation technology enhances call clarity, while music and podcast playback can now occur directly from the watch. For families, Apple Watch For Your Kids allows parents to set up the SE 3 for their children, enabling them to make calls, send messages, and share their location via Find My, all while ensuring access to safety features like Emergency SOS. Children will receive their unique Apple Account and phone number, alongside personalized activity goals and apps like Memoji and Maps. The Apple Watch SE 3 is available in 40 mm and 44 mm aluminum cases, offered in shades of midnight and starlight. In India, the starting price is set at ₹25,900, with preorders available in over 50 markets worldwide.
