Apple will discontinue these 8 products tomorrow after iPhone 17 launch

Apple is on the verge of one of its most significant announcements, preparing to unveil the iPhone 17 series during its highly anticipated event on September 9 at Apple Park. In conjunction with this new hardware rollout, the tech giant plans to retire eight existing products, streamlining its offerings ahead of the next generation. At the forefront of this transition are four iPhone models that will be phased out. The iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max are expected to be discontinued, marking the end of their availability in Apple’s official store. Although these models may still be found through third-party retailers for a while, Apple will no longer sell them directly. This strategy aligns with the company's approach to maintaining standard models at lower prices while phasing out older Pro versions. Analysts predict there may be slight price adjustments for the new models, with a potential $50 increase for the iPhone 17 Pro, particularly for configurations with greater storage. The pricing for the iPhone 17 Pro Max might also see an uptick based on its final specifications. The product shake-up extends beyond the iPhones. Apple is also expected to discontinue the Apple Watch Series 10, Apple Watch Ultra 2, and the Apple Watch SE (second generation). With the company’s tradition of refreshing its smartwatch lineup annually, new models will likely take the place of these outgoing versions. Additionally, the AirPods Pro 2 may be retired, although Apple might keep them at a lower price point in light of the upcoming AirPods Pro 3. This decision to retire four iPhones, three Apple Watch models, and one version of the AirPods underscores Apple’s commitment to simplifying its product catalog while ensuring that all available iPhones support the latest Apple Intelligence features. The launch event on September 9 is poised to showcase not only the new smartphones but also the latest in wearable and audio technology, marking the end of an era for several familiar products.
